A. Leave of absence
Students who cannot attend due to illness or another unavoidable reason must apply for a leave of absence within a fixed period of time. However, if a foreign student takes a leave of absence, he or she must depart to their home country within two weeks.
1) Procedure for a leave of absence
- Complete application for a leave of absence (in case of a special leave of absence, attach evidence document) > Confirmation by the head of major program and advisor > Submission to administration office > Approval or dismissal of leave of absence.
2) Leave of absence period
- General leave of absence: A student can apply every semester or year and can take up to four semesters off while enrolled.

Special leave of absence: Must conform to the criteria below (a special leave of absence does not count toward the total leave of absence).

3) Notes
- A leave of absence must be applied for within the leave of absence application period.
- The leave of absence period cannot exceed one year (two semesters) at a time.
- If a student does not return to school after the leave of absence and extends the leave of absence, he/she must apply for leave of absence again in the relevant semester.
- In cases of a leave of absence after paying tuition fee, the tuition fee paid will be returned in accordance with the tuition return standard.
- New students, re-enrolled students, and transfer students are not allowed to take a leave of absence for the first semester.
- Scholarship recipients must return their scholarships when taking a leave of absence.
- If a student takes a leave of absence since 21 days of the start date of the semester, he/she can take a leave of absence only after paying tuition.
B. Return to school
If the leave of absence period expires, the student must return to school by submitting the application form for returning to school within the specified period. If the student is unable to return to school, he/she must apply for a leave of absence within the specified period.
1) Return Procedure
- Fill out an application form for returning to school > Confirmation by the head of major program and advisor > Submission to administration office > Approval or dismissal of application form for returning to school.
2) Notes
- Student must apply for returning to school within a fixed period of time prior to the commencement of the semester.
- After returning to school, a student must register and sign up for classes within the designated period.
- When returning to school after a leave of absence for military service, a copy of the resident registration record or resident registration card containing the military service must be attached.
- If a student wishes to extend a leave of absence, he/she must apply for a leave of absence during the leave of absence application period. If the student does not return to school after the leave of absence, he/she will be expelled.
