Welcome to Graduate School of Physical Education at Kyung Hee University.

The recent arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution has demanded fundamental innovations in all fields, including education, and is rapidly changing our society. This seismic change calls for a need to provide new forms of education in the field of physical education and sports science, while complex studies using big data and smart sports to combine the worlds of sports and IT are socially required. Therefore, it is essential to foster creative convergence talents who are capable of leading a new paradigm in modern society.

The Graduate School of Physical Education was established in 1993 as a Graduate School of Sport Science, containing a Department of Sport Science and a Department of Social Physical Education. In 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Education as Korea’s first graduate school of physical education, including sports medicine, sports leisure industry, and sports. So far, the Graduate School of Physical Education has produced physical education leaders and sport scientists who have gained unique physiques, virtues, and knowledge through its specialized and systematic curriculum.

At the Graduate School of Physical Education, 10 outstanding faculty members, including the dean, are currently dedicated to education and research. Each year, 35 master's students and 20 doctoral students enroll. The curriculum of the graduate school is operated according to the specialization of major areas, such as sports medicine and science, sports industry and business management, and Taekwondo. It is currently conducting various forms of research in cooperation with the research institute of growth and aging, low pressure low oxygen research institute, nutritional biochemistry research institute, sports prescription room, AT center, sports biomechanics room, chiropractic room, coaching research institute, and sports industry research institute. Further, by holding academic seminars and international conferences related to physical education and sports, the Graduate School constantly strives to improve the health, physical fitness, and physical activity of society more generally, helping to prevent chronic diseases in addition to the development of sports science.

Moving forward, the Graduate School of Physical Education will do its best to produce highly qualified leaders who can actively respond to new environmental changes and social needs regarding the future physical education, sports medicine, and sports science through the internationalization of its education system, the strengthening of its research capability, and the specialization of its human resources.
