A. Eligibility for dissertation submission

A dissertation can be submitted if all of the following requirements are met.

  • A student who has completed the 4 or more semesters of regular enrollment and has earned the necessary credits for completion, or is expected to complete the credits within the semester.
  • A student with a grade point average of B (3.0) or higher.
  • A student classified as having a similar major or other majors and has taken additional credits (prerequisites).
  • A student who has passed all major examinations and presentations.
  • A student who completed or is expected to complete the dissertation guidance course during the semester.

B. Presentation of dissertation

  • A person preparing a master's degree dissertation shall publicly publish a dissertation plan or an interim report. A person preparing a doctoral dissertation must present a dissertation result after the dissertation proposal (However, Ph.D. students admitted before the 2019 school year may choose to present a dissertation plan or publish a dissertation result).
  • A student can make public presentation from the 3rd term, but he/she should first pass a major examination.
  • Public presentation must applied for each semester during the specified period.
  • The presenter should prepare the presentation materials (PPT file and printed copy) and the manuscript for the reviewers.
  • In the case of the master's program, the reviewer of a public presentation must be an advisor. In the case of doctoral program, the reviewers must be more than three, including an advisor and judges (full-time faculty member of a related major). However, in the case of a master's program, if the advisor is in the middle of the research year, he/she can delegate the status of a temporary advisor to one of the full-time faculty members, enabling the presentation to proceed.
  • All audience members, including the advisor, can ask the presenter questions related to the dissertation, with the presenter required to answer the questions.
  • Regarding the result of the public presentation, the advisor determines the pass or fail result for the master's program, while the advisor and 2 judges determine the result for the doctoral program.
  • The thesis advisor shall prepare the result of the public presentation as pass or fail, confirm it with the head of the major program, and report it to the dean within one week after the end of the public presentation.
  • If a student passes the public presentation, its validity will be recognized for 5 consecutive semesters, including that semester.
  • For the master's program, a student can submit a dissertation from the semester in which he/she passed the dissertation proposal or interim report. For the doctoral program, a student can submit a dissertation from the semester in which he/she passed the presentation of the dissertation result (however, if a Ph.D. student enrolled prior to the 2019 school year has presented a dissertation proposal, the student can make a submission after the semester in which he/she passed the public presentation).
